Luca Mariano Distillery

Danville, KY

The Luca Mariano Distillery will be approximately 16,000-square feet once construction is complete.

The new Luca Mariano Distillery will be comprised of the following:

  1. One (1) 7,500-gallon cooker utilizing 35 PSIG steam
  2. Seven (7) 7,500-gallon open top fermenters
  3. One (1) 10,000-gallon beer well
  4. An 18″ diameter column still with high & low wine condensers, doubler, and beer heater
  5. Exterior two (2) 15,000-gallon thick stillage tanks, and one (1) 3,000-gallon thin stillage tank
  6. One backset tank
  7. Four (4) interior spirits tanks for barreling
  8. One (1) 7,500 exterior product tank
  9. One (1) approximately 150-ton capacity air-cooled chiller with hot and cold water tanks and high & low-temperature circulation systems
  10. One (1) approximately 300 Boiler HP steam with automatic blowdown, separate, and 100% make-up deaerator
  11. Water softening system and RO water system for filling the boiler and for cutting water at barreling

Technical Horizons provided development of process P&ID drawings for the following systems:

  1.  Steam boiler plant, condensate return and steam distribution
  2. Soft water and RO water generation, pumping and distribution
  3. Chilled water and cooling water central plant, blending tanks and buffer tank with water distribtion. Includes well water heat exhanging for free cooling on cooling water system.
  4. Compressed air plant with distribution
  5. Process water distribution
  6. Mash Product piping for cooker and fermenter
  7. Beer product piping
  8. Distilled spirits product piping to the spirit tanks and barreling
  9. Piping to thick & thin stillage tanks
  1.  Development of electrical one-line diagram of the process power and distribution MCC sections and/or panels for process power
  2. Development of building process utility plans and modelling of the process piping systems, central plant utility equipment, and process electrical. Revit modelling and design drawings are included for the included systems. Modelling to be to a level of detail of 300. This will include modelling of any cable trays and process power conduits above 2″ in size
  3. Natural gas system design to the boiler and any make-up air/gas heating equipment for HVAC
  4. Thermal modelling of the steam and steam condensate piping system operating above 15 PSIG. This modelling determines the required steam expansion devices, required anchor locations, spring hangers and guides necessary for adequate stress relief of the elevated pressure steam and condensate systems. Force and moment reactions will be calculated for which must be translated into the building and mezzanine structures. Steam and condensate systems below 15 PSIG will be designed as per ASHRAE expansion and compensation guidelines in lieu of modelling
  5. Development of utlity central plant control sequences
  6. Specifications for process piping, product piping and process electrical systems
  7. Plumbing design for sanitary and process drainage for the indicated fixtures and required process drains
  8. Design of domestic water service, separation of process ingredient water from service water, domestic water distribution, safety fixtures, hot water generation, and tempered water for safety fixtures
  9. Development of building system plans and modelling
  10. Specifications for plumbing and HVAC systems
  11. ComCheck Engery code calculations suitable for submission to Authority Having Jurisdiction
